Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aini Suzana Datuk Hj Ariffin

Associate Professor Dr. Aini Suzana Datuk Hj Ariffin is a Fellow Expert in the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIRO) and Expert Advisory of the Institute Sultan Iskandar, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. She holds a Ph.D. in Science, Technology, and Innovation Policy Management from the University of Manchester and a Master’s in International Business from the University of Miami. She has led many national policies that include the National STI Policy, Innovation Policy, AI Policy, among others. She was actively involved in the development of the Petronas Twin Towers and Kuala Lumpur International Airport during her time in Petronas. She has served on various boards and committees, including SIRIM QAS International and ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 42. Currently, she leads the initiatives for AI governance and regulation in Malaysia and represents ASEAN in responsible AI. Dr. Aini Suzana also contributed to international science and technology policy, serving as Deputy Secretary-General of WAITRO and Chair of UNESCO’s STEPAN network for Asia-Pacific.
